Lovevery Review: The Play Kits Cost $528 a Year

Lovevery suits parents who want each stage of toys picked and timed for them.

Lovevery is worth it for parents who want stage-matched toys and play ideas delivered on a schedule, and who can spend about $44 a month on it. At New Parent Picks, our Lovevery review compared Lovevery’s published prices, shipping table and help-center policies against KiwiCo’s Panda Crate and against buying toys one at a time.

Lovevery sells The Play Kits, a subscription of toys, books and activity guides sized to a child’s age. As of October 2026, a baby kit costs $88 and ships every two months. From the first birthday on, a kit costs $132 and ships every three months.

Both schedules come to $528 a year in kits alone. That figure is the number to weigh, because the per-kit price hides how many boxes arrive.

Who Lovevery Fits Best

Lovevery is a children’s play company founded by Jessica Rolph and Rod Morris, and its main product is The Play Kits subscription for ages 0 to 5. Lovevery’s about page says its play products are “designed by child development experts,” though the page does not name a single lead designer.

The Play Kits page lists 22 kits in order. Six cover the first year, and each later year has four:

Age stageKits in that stageShips everyPrice per kit (October 2026)
0 to 12 monthsThe Looker, The Charmer, The Senser, The Inspector, The Explorer, The Thinker2 months$88
1-year-oldThe Babbler, The Adventurer, The Realist, The Companion3 months$132
2-year-oldThe Helper, The Enthusiast, The Researcher, The Free Spirit3 months$132
3-year-oldThe Observer, The Storyteller, The Problem Solver, The Analyst3 months$132
4-year-oldThe Connector, The Examiner, The Persister, The Planner3 months$132

Lovevery fits a first-time parent who has no stash of hand-me-down toys and no time to research what a five-month-old can grasp. It also fits a grandparent or friend who wants a gift that keeps arriving after the baby shower is over.

Lovevery Benefits Beyond the Toys

The subscription’s main benefit is that each kit starts shipping about a week before your child reaches the next age window. Lovevery’s shipping help article says kits start processing about seven days before your child ages into them, based on the birth date you enter. You never have to work out when your child is ready for the next set of toys.

A subscription also unlocks extras that a one-off toy purchase does not. Lovevery’s Play Kits FAQ lists these:

  • The Lovevery App, so the subscription’s play guidance is on your phone.
  • The full Parent Courses library, including Food Before 1 and Potty Learning, so you get guidance on feeding and potty milestones along with the toys.
  • A Subscriber Shop for replacement parts, so one lost piece does not ruin a toy.

Lovevery also lets families slow the schedule down. Its help center says you can move the next ship date up to two weeks either way. A Disability Support Specialist can build a custom schedule for a child who needs more time with each kit.

Lovevery’s safety FAQ says its products are tested to toy standards including ASTM F963 (the U.S. toy safety standard), EN 71 (the European toy standard) and the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). Lovevery says each box or insert lists the standards that product meets, so you can read them yourself when the kit arrives.

How Lovevery Compares with KiwiCo, PlanToys and Hape

Lovevery costs about twice as much per year as KiwiCo’s Panda Crate, the closest subscription rival for babies. Buying single wooden toys from brands like PlanToys or Hape costs whatever you choose to spend, but you do the planning.

KiwiCo’s Panda Crate covers 0 to 35 months and ships every two months. KiwiCo’s pricing help page lists Panda Crate at $42 per crate with free U.S. shipping, and the Panda page offers Essentials, Plus and Deluxe tiers. KiwiCo says Dr. Dimitri Christakis of Seattle Children’s Hospital helps develop its products and curriculum.

Lovevery’s own single products are a third route. The Play Gym sells for $150 on its own, with free shipping in the contiguous U.S. That one purchase covers the tummy-time stage without a subscription.

Choose Lovevery when you want the widest age range, the parent courses and a schedule built around your child’s birth date. Choose Panda Crate when the budget is tight and a planned box still matters to you. Buy single toys when you already have opinions about what your baby likes.

Lovevery Pricing Comes to $528 a Year

A full first year of Lovevery Play Kits costs $528 before shipping, and up to $587.70 with it. Six baby kits at $88 each come to $528. Lovevery’s shipping table charges $9.95 on orders from $34.99 to $227.98 in the contiguous U.S., and it names only the Play Gym and The Block Set as free-shipping items.

If that rate applies to each kit, six shipments add $59.70. Check the shipping line at checkout before you subscribe, because the table does not say whether a subscription kit ships free.

Here is how the add-ons change the yearly bill:

  1. Kits only, first year: 6 × $88 = $528.
  2. Kits plus $9.95 shipping on each: $528 + $59.70 = $587.70.
  3. Kits plus a Book Bundle with each: Lovevery’s Book Bundle article prices each bundle at $18 with no added shipping, so six bundles add $108.
  4. Any later year: 4 × $132 = $528 in kits, the same as year one.

Lovevery’s price FAQ explains the jump from $88 to $132 as wider developmental windows after age one. The monthly cost stays at $44 either way.

New subscribers get a free gift as of October 2026. Lovevery’s gift terms offer a Lovevery x Ergobaby Aura Wrap worth up to $59 to first-time subscribers who start on or after September 28, while supplies last. Shipping charges may apply to the wrap.

Lovevery Drawbacks Worth Weighing

The first Play Kit ships the moment you check out, and Lovevery cannot delay it. Its first-shipment article says The Looker ships right away even during pregnancy, while The Charmer waits until the baby reaches three months. If you are buying for someone else, use Lovevery’s gifting option, which lets you pick when the recipient hears about it.

Lovevery has no pause button. The cancellation article says to skip or cancel at least three days before the next ship date, and skipping works only on Lovevery.com, not in the app. Set a phone reminder a week before each ship date so a kit you do not want never leaves the warehouse.

Prepaying saves money but limits flexibility. If you cancel a Prepay & Save plan, Lovevery refunds the kits you have not received and takes back the prepay discount. Skipping a prepaid kit means contacting Lovevery rather than clicking a button.

Lovevery has had two recalls, both announced in coordination with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada. The details come from Lovevery’s product recalls page:

  • February 17, 2022: the Drinking Cup with Handle from The Inspector Play Kit, shipped before August 2021. The handle could detach and pose a choking hazard, so Lovevery offers a replacement cup without a handle.
  • February 1, 2024: certain Slide & Seek Ball Runs with wooden knobs from The Babbler Play Kit, delivered June through November 2023. A knob damaged in shipping could pose a choking hazard, and Lovevery offers a free replacement.

Lovevery’s recall pages report no injuries from the ball run and no choking injuries from the cup. If you buy a secondhand kit, check those two items against the recall pages before your child plays with them.

Who Should Skip Lovevery

Lovevery is a poor fit for a family on a tight budget, since $528 a year in kits is more than many families spend on toys. Panda Crate covers the same first three years for $252 a year, and a library toy shelf or secondhand toys cost even less.

Lovevery also suits small homes badly. Each kit adds a new box of toys and books, so a family in a one-bedroom apartment can end up rotating boxes in and out of a closet. If space is the constraint, buy the Play Gym alone and skip the subscription.

Families with an older child’s baby toys still in the closet can often skip it too. Compare those toys with the kit lists on the Play Kits page before you pay for duplicates.

What Would Change Our Lovevery Verdict

A price increase on the Play Kits would change our view first. At $44 a month, Lovevery sits at the top of what we think a toy subscription is worth, and a higher price would push most families toward Panda Crate.

Free shipping on every kit would move the verdict the other way. It would cut up to $59.70 from the first year and narrow the gap with KiwiCo.

A third recall would also change our advice. Two recalls in a catalog of 22 kits is a record to watch, and a new one would send us back to the recall notices before recommending a subscription again.

Our Lovevery Review Verdict

Lovevery is the best pick for a first-time parent who wants a planned, birth-date-timed toy schedule plus parent courses, and who has $44 a month for it. Panda Crate is the better buy when price leads the decision, at $252 a year. If you only want one Lovevery product, the $150 Play Gym gives you the brand without the commitment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Lovevery worth the money?

Lovevery is worth it if you value the planning and parent guidance as much as the toys. The kits cost $528 a year before shipping. If you only want age-appropriate toys and do not need the app or courses, Panda Crate costs about half as much.

How much does Lovevery cost per month?

Lovevery costs $44 a month in kits at every age as of October 2026. Baby kits cost $88 every two months, and kits from age one cost $132 every three months. Shipping and Book Bundles add to that.

Can you buy one Lovevery Play Kit without a subscription?

Yes, for toddler kits from 13 months up. Lovevery’s gifting article says the toddler Play Kits starting at 13+ months can be bought as a single Play Kit. For a baby under one, start a subscription and cancel after the kits you want.

How do I cancel Lovevery?

Sign in on Lovevery.com, open Account Settings and choose Manage Subscription. Cancel at least three days before the next ship date, or that kit still ships. A kit with a shipping confirmation already sent is not canceled.

Does Lovevery have free shipping?

The Play Gym and The Block Set ship free in the contiguous U.S. and Canada. Lovevery’s shipping table charges other orders by subtotal, starting at $5.95 for orders up to $34.98 and $9.95 for orders from $34.99 to $227.98.

Is Lovevery better than KiwiCo Panda Crate?

Lovevery is better for its age range and parent courses, since it runs to age 5 and Panda Crate stops at 3. Panda Crate is better on price at $42 per crate with free U.S. shipping. Pick by whether the courses and longer schedule are worth the extra $276 a year.

Can I return a Lovevery Play Kit?

Lovevery’s returns article gives you a 30-day window from delivery to request a return or exchange, with free return shipping in the U.S. and Canada. If you received the Play Kits as a gift, Lovevery offers equivalent store credit instead.

Before you subscribe, enter your baby’s birth date on the Lovevery Play Kits page and see which kit ships first and on what date.
